That Eleanor Roosevelt was a smart lady.

Some things to keep in mind.

Also, a good post on focusing on what you can control, rather than stressing out about external circumstances and meeting others' expectations, and this one on letting things go.

Monday Funday/Links for Sharing

I had an exceptionally long week/weekend last week, so I let myself sleep in today! Of course, my way too comfortable bed and the lack of sun shining though my window contributed to this laziness. After I finally managed to drag myself out of bed and make myself breakfast, a guy came to fix our internet and give us cable, and here was here almost all day. So I still haven't gotten around to taking a shower, because I didn't feel comfortable taking one while he was here. This is all to say that I have had an extremely laid back day. I did attempt to make this bracelet, but it didn't quite work out. Working with wire is hard, guys. Here are some interesting things that I've been collecting the past couple of weeks. Enjoy!

It's never too late.

Life is Short

I'm one of those people who overanalyzes everything. I'd like to change that. Lately, whenever I have a bad day at work, or I know someone is (or probably isn't, but I think they are) mad at me, I remind myself to take a deep breath, and keep things in perspective. I think about whether or not this thing will matter in a year. Or a couple months. Or even a week, for that matter. I need to look forward, without stressing out about the future either. Even though things aren't perfect and I may not be happy all the time, I'm content. And I'm ok with that.

Autumn Intentions

Have I mentioned I love Fall?

Back in July I created a list of things I wanted to make sure I accomplished this summer. Looking back at this list, I realize I did not do some of those things, but that's ok. In spirit of the new (and my personal favorite) season, I've made a new list of things to make time for fall.

Make pumpkin everything
Wear boots more often
Drink tea
Bake
Go to antique stores/flea markets
Take lots of pictures
Arts/crafts
Clean out my closet, and buy new clothes with intention (more on this later)
Try new soup recipes
Take more walks

Does anyone else take their cats on walks?

An interview with Gretchen Rubin, author of The Happiness Project. I highly recommend her book. To anyone. And this blog. I highly recommend this blog.

Fall reading list.

I love this look.

These tea sets are too adorable.

I'm digging acrylic jewelry lately.

Happy Weekend!

Hair Funk

I've been trying to grow my hair out for the longest time. But once my hair hits about shoulder length, I feel like it stops growing, looks boring, and I chop it off.

Like a few summers ago when I got this super cute A-line cut!

Recently though, I had gotten really close to achieving the long(er) hair I so desire. And then... I got this awful mullet cut. It was kind of my fault. You see, I'm not all that picky about my hair. I mean, it's hair. It'll grow back. Whatever. So I tell the girl that I'm trying to grow out my hair, but I need my dead ends trimmed because I pick at split ends and it's bad. So her way of cleaning up my hair while retaining the length? This mullet 'do.

I know what you're thinking. It does not even look that bad, and it is not even a mullet. Wrong. Weird, choppy layers in front, tons of texture, and way longer in the back. Like, it was a V shape. I was initially terribly upset, but me being the down-to-earth girl I am, quickly got over it. It's hair. And it wasn't a bad cut, just not my style. As much as I'd like to pull off the edgy, alternative kind of look, it's just not me. So recently I went and got the back trimmed up, and now it looks a million times better.

And I'm bored. Again. I was planning on treating myself to an ombre hair color, but I've decided to put that off and buy myself a tattoo for my birthday in December instead. So, I've been collecting pictures of ladies with lovely long hair, to remind myself to be patient and stop picking my split ends. Besides, I want to have long hair for Jenna's wedding next summer (:

Again, elegant with a simple bow.

Not that I could pull this look off, but I love how wild her hair is.
